Last weekend we had a school Xmas party and each family was bringing a dish for a common buffet. I wanted to make something relatively simple but tasty and of course with a special Christmas decoration touch. My choice went to the puff pastry Christmas tree.
It was a great fun preparing this Xmas tree with Sara and she was delighted with the end result. So was I 🙂
You can of course make puff pastry and the filling from scratch at home, but my time was very limited, so I have used store bought ingredients.
First, spread pesto sauce on the first puff pastry sheet.
Then, add ham and cheese if you want to. Place another sheet of puff pastry on top.
Cut a tree shape, start with determining the stem first. Make symmetric cuts on both sides to mark the tree branches. Twist each stripe.
Start from the right bottom part, then do the left side, also from the bottom to top. Just make sure you’re twisting the stripes closewise on the right side and anti-clockwise on the left, so the tree branches have a symmetric look.
We cut stars from the puff pastry remaining after the cuts of the Christmas tree and we have used them for decoration around the tree.
We have also placed one on the top of the tree for the nicer look.
Easy, funny, pretty and tasty!
