Last year, Sara chose owl theme for her 7th birthday party. We did owls invitations, owl birthday cake and a lot of crafts and games related to the owl theme.
I had troubles to find owls gifts for her friends, so finally I decided to make owls bags for little girls invited to the party. They all loved it and were super happy, as for some of them it was their first bag ever! They looked so cute with their bags 🙂
First you need to make your pattern and prepare all the pieces. I did mine on a A4 paper sheet first and used it to cut all the pieces of fabric.
Start with the eyes:
Then sew the wings to the front part of the bag. Leave the upper part of the wing opened, so it makes a little pocket for treasures.
;
Sew the eyes, the beak and the feet to the front part of the bag:
Sew the front and the back of the bag together, making sure that feet is inside.
Attach the stripe:
Sew both parts of the lining, leaving a space that will allow to turn the bag on the right side later on:
Sew the bag and the lining together:
Turn the bag on the right side and close the lining:
The bag is almost ready. You may want to sew around the opening, so it holds better:
and add little pearls to the eyes, so the owl has a more realistic look 🙂
You can be as creative as you want!
